Learn about the purpose and mission of the Glass Lion award

The Glass Lion: The Lion for Change is an award recognising creativity that challenges the deeply-rooted gender bias which still exists in marketing by shattering stereotypical images of men and women.

Celebrating more positive portrayals in this way influences work produced by the industry. But the Glass Lion goes a step further, amplifying its effects by contributing to a specially-selected group of programmes that promote gender-neutralising communications initiatives around the world.

Entry fees are used to create a central pool of funds which will then be distributed amongst these programmes. During Cannes Lions, Festival delegates will be able to return to this site, "claim" €100 each from the total funds and direct it to the cause of their choice.

Once again, Cannes Lions delegates are invited to join together and shatter gender stereotypes by playing an active role in supporting gender equality causes through the Glass Lion programme. Every day of the Festival, delegates are able to direct a portion of the proceeds from the Glass Lion award to the cause of their choice.

The programme, developed and managed by purpose activation partner in/PACT, creates authentic emotional connections, conversation, and advocacy among Festival delegates around the themes of gender equality and people-empowered giving.
